LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK DAY TRIP
After breakfast the driver will pick you from Hotel to Lake Manyara National Park. The park is located on both Arusha and Manyara region, its special qualities and abundant wildlife make it a most worthwhile visit. The park covers only 330 square kilometers of which 230 square kilometers are the lake itself. The majority of the land area of the park is a narrow strip running between the Gregory Rift wall to the west and Lake Manyara.
Obviously the biggest draw to this park is the spectacular lake, the lake is home to hippos and flamingos relaxing in the cool waters, with tree climbing lions and amusing baboons hanging out in the trees. In this park, it is possible to see leopards, lions, cheetahs, elephants, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelles, porcupines, klipspringer, rock hyrax, hippopotami, masai giraffe, impala, zebras, and flamingos, On the shores of the lake the wonderful birds of over 400 species can be viewed includes Eagles, Pelican, Cranes, Storks, Marabous, Hornbills, Egrets and numerous others can be seen, there is also a usually well- stocked hippo pool.
Colonies of pink flaming migrate from one lake to another throughout the year coming to Lake Manyara National Park in the period from June to September. As their abode they choose the mud flats where crustaceans, which are the main diet, live. Without it their feathers have grey-while color. While newly hatched flamingos are always grey they became pink as they get older –in the year thanks to the pigment carotene which is contained in their food.
