The Gombe National Park is the smallest national park in Tanzania and is also called “Chimpanzee Country” due to its large population of great apes. Chimpanzees share more than 98% of their genes with humans. On a hike through Gombe National Park it is possible for the monkeys who are used to the presence of humans to unexpectedly experience a moment of mutual recognition.

When hiking through Gombe National Park, it is possible to get very close to the monkeys that have been accustomed to the presence of humans. If you look into the eyes of a chimpanzee and it looks at you for its part, you may unexpectedly experience a moment of mutual recognition.Anubis baboons, red-tailed monkeys and red colobus monkeys can also be observed in addition to the famous chimpanzees. However, the latter are more afraid of contact and therefore prefer to stay high up in the trees.

Itineraries

Day 1

Flight to Kigoma

We will pick you up from the Airport – After arrival you have a little bit city walking around Kigoma, see local people doing their business at different markets. Also see the oldest ship of all in the world LIEMBA with more than 100 years old, then we will finish with living stone (Museum).

Day 2

Kibirizi - Gombe National Park

After breakfast you will pick up at 7:30 from Kibirizi Port for drive with boat to Gombe National Park. After breakfast you will have a little bit rest for briefing when we arrived and before we start the trekking, lunch at 3pm after that go for swimming and rest, or walking along the lake shore, enjoying the sun set and Dinner will be around 7:30Pm.

Day 3

Kakombe Water fall

Go for trekking experience the Chimps at 8am, at 3:30 go for feeding station, Kakombe Water fall and Jane's Peak, and see other monkey, birds and trees.

Day 4

Mwamgongo Village

Go for Chimps trekking and experience them, back for lunch at 1:30pm or 2:00pm. Rest a bit and go to experience local Dance from Ha tribe at Mwamgongo Village, back for dinner at 7:30pm.

Day 5

Gombe - Kigoma

Pick up from Gombe--Kigoma to catch flight to Arusha or Zanzibar
  • Transport with qualified driver/guide in 4×4 vehicles with viewing roof
